About CEG

The CEG will have the ability to challenge National Grid Electricity Distribution on their priorities, proposed outputs and expenditure; approach to sustainability, resilience and innovation; their transition to become a Distribution System Operator; stakeholder engagement processes; and support for vulnerable customers, for example. The CEG's key output is to produce an independent report for Ofgem that will sit alongside NGED's Business Plan and outline any areas of agreement and disagreement.

NGED is delighted to announce the appointment of Duncan McCombie as Chair for this group.

Priorities

The CEG will fulfil a vital role to ensure customers are placed at the heart of NGED's plans for the future and that actions and decisions made by the company are truly positioned to deliver the long-term interests of consumers.

The CEG members will scrutinise NGED's plans and the processes by which decisions have been reached and review NGED's wider engagement with stakeholders to ensure robust and representative consultation. Most importantly we will work hand-in-glove with the industry regulator Ofgem to provide them with essential, independent oversight and assurances throughout.

"I am passionate about achieving the very best outcomes for customers – after all they pay for everything NGED do - so have the right to expect and receive the very best performance. There will be no easy rides – providing independent consumer challenge is a privilege and as such this is a role I take very seriously."
